Liebe zum Leben, Liebe zu Welt: Hannah Arendt und James Baldwin

# political system

Lecture

Juliane Reventisch's lecture will focus on the question of whether – and if so, in what sense – love can be a force for political transformation.

A letter written by Hannah Arendt to James Baldwin in 1962 is the occasion to reflect on a missed opportunity for understanding between two of the most influential intellectuals of the twentieth century. The lecture is as much about misunderstandings and actual differences as it is about surprising similarities. The central question is whether - and if so, in what sense - love can be a force for political transformation.
